Puffiness and dark circles of the lower eyelids may be a normal part of the aging process. However, allergies, eye-rubbing, genetic predisposition, chronic sinus problems, and certain other health conditions may contribute to progression. Eye bags (puffiness and circles) can be improved with surgery combined with laser treatments.
Leave those lower eyelid bags behind for a more youthful look!
What to expect.
We do everything we can to make you as comfortable as possible. Your provider may prescribe an oral sedation to help you relax. From there, we’ll apply a bit of topical anesthetic. After the topical anesthetic takes effect, the injection of the local anesthesia is barely noticeable. Once complete anesthesia of the lower lids is achieved, you will feel no pain during the procedure. You might feel some movement or light pressure as the fat pads are removed. This procedure, known as lower eyelid blepharoplasty, is low-risk but can deliver remarkable results.
Allow some time to yourself for cool compresses and rest. Your provider may prescribe eyedrops or other medications to ease recovery. Aerobic activities, bending, lifting or straining are restricted for one to two weeks. You may ease back into your activities over the second and third weeks. Side effects, like discomfort or itching, are usually minimal and should fade within a month.
